Proverbs Study Day 17

I hope everyone enjoyed yesterday's study. It was to study and brought back some cool memories for me. Im babysitting my beautiful 4 month old neice. She is a little fussy tonight, so I'm going to try to get this done the best I can.

Prayer: God as we do our study today, place the words deep in our hearts. Help us to hide the words in our hearts, and to hear what we need to hear. Let us apply it to our lives, and give us wisdom as to when and where we need to use these words in our lives. Thank for this time of study.
Amen.

Today we are Reading Proverbs 6:1-19 (In your bible mark the words: my son, the Lord, and wise.

Pro 6:1 My son, if you have put up security for your neighbor, have given your pledge for a stranger,
Pro 6:2 if you are snared in the words of your mouth, caught in the words of your mouth,
Pro 6:3 then do this, my son, and save yourself, for you have come into the hand of your neighbor: go, hasten, and plead urgently with your neighbor.
Pro 6:4 Give your eyes no sleep and your eyelids no slumber;
Pro 6:5 save yourself like a gazelle from the hand of the hunter, like a bird from the hand of the fowler.
Pro 6:6 Go to the ant, O sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise.
Pro 6:7 Without having any chief, officer, or ruler,
Pro 6:8 she prepares her bread in summer and gathers her food in harvest.
Pro 6:9 How long will you lie there, O sluggard? When will you arise from your sleep?
Pro 6:10 A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest,
Pro 6:11 and poverty will come upon you like a robber, and want like an armed man.
Pro 6:12 A worthless person, a wicked man, goes about with crooked speech,
Pro 6:13 winks with his eyes, signals with his feet, points with his finger,
Pro 6:14 with perverted heart devises evil, continually sowing discord;
Pro 6:15 therefore calamity will come upon him suddenly; in a moment he will be broken beyond healing.
Pro 6:16 There are six things that the LORD hates, seven that are an abomination to him:
Pro 6:17 haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
Pro 6:18 a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil,
Pro 6:19 a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers.

The study says to group the verses by the subjects they cover.

When you are done, pick the verse that spoke to you the most, and write down how you can apply it to your life this week.

I will post my answers in the comment sections below. It may be a few hours before I post them.

Grouping Verses:
1-6 I feel is about someone running their mouth, maybe being at odds with someone. It is our job to make a mends and to do it quickly.

7-11 I feel is about laziness and what becomes of someone for being lazy.

12-15 is the characteristics of a worthless person

16-19 the things that Lord hates

When you think of it, that is a lot of stuff to cram into 19 verses. It is teaching us not to be mouthy, we are to humble ourselves and correct mistakes we have made. I'm pretty sure we have all done this at some point and time in our lives. I know I have, and it is not easy to correct things that you wish you wouldn't have said. But this reminds us that we are to correct them quickly, not to go to bed angry with someone.

Then it goes straight to laziness. We can't expect everything to be given to us while we sit around and do nothing. That has become very easy for today's society. A lot of people do not feel they have to work to make ends meat.
For those that are lazy, it says that poverty will come upon them.

Next is the worthless person, and before you start naming names, you may want to first look at yourself and make sure you don't fall into any of those categories. After you make sure you are not the one pointing your finger and batting your eyes, then you need to be aware of those around you that are.

Then the things the Lord hates.
Haughty Eyes
Lying Tongue
Hands that Shed Innocent Blood
A heart that devises wicked plans
Feet that run to evil
A false witness who breathes out lies
one who sows in discord amond brothers.

Once again, we should look at our lives closely, for these things are an abmonination to the Lord. Keep your feet planted firmly in him, keep your nose in the book, and talk to God everyday.
